The Debate is Alive in New Zealand, South Africa and Australia

In New Zealand the debate is serious but relatively civil.

So the old paradigm is fighting for survival. Since the development of the Internet, the ivory towers can't keep their knowledge to themselves, and they can't stop people sharing their of own knowledge with others.

It's clear that in most developed countries our diet is causing illness and early death. That much can't be disputed. How we should respond to that situation is the question.

The Ministry of Health in New Zealand, and equivalent organisations around the world are still committed to the original guideline. Most universities around the world still teach the old paradigm, including Stellenbosch University, the University of Cape Town, the University of Sydney, and the University of Otago.

It's a failure to recognise the inevitable. The Women's Health Initiative, killed the old paradigm, but the "authorities" refuse to recognise that result. Ten years later they continue to defend an indefensible position. Thomas Kuhn would recognise the situation.

“A new scientific truth does not triumph by convincing its opponents and making them see the light, but rather because its opponents eventually die, and a new generation grows up that is familiar with it.” Max Planck, Scientific Autobiography and Other Papers

Or more simply, “Science advances one funeral at a time.” Max Planck

What do I Recommend?

The key is self education. You will not be able to stick to any different diet, unless you know exactly why you are doing it.

While you are educating yourself, begin the "Take-out Diet." When you are ready, and if you choose, begin Banting.

Join a group of other people who are also on the same dietary change journey. It's very difficult on your own, and we have much to teach each other.
