About these Authors

Dr Stephen Phinney
Dr Phinney has the longest history of all the modern researchers into ketogenic diets, beginning in the 1980's. His work faced many obstacles, but in the last 15 years it became the springboard the enabled Dr Jeff Volek and others to get started.

Dr Jeff Volek
Dr Volek has done some remarkable research with very small groups of people, but in very tightly controlled circumstances. Because the experiments required considerable interference in the lives of the individuals, they had to be volunteers, and there needed to be a personal benefit from taking part for the individual. Most often therefore the participants were elite athletes or military people.

Dr. Richard Feinman
Dr Feinman is a biochemist, who became involved in dietary research after being asked, in a temporary way, to teach a class in nutrition at his university. He read the basic textbook and was dismayed at the lack of science behind what was being taught. There was almost no biochemistry in the course. This book makes an effort to change that.

The Real Meal Group
This book contains easy to understand guidelines for people new to Banting. There are many pages with excellent recipes to help the transition to the new diet. Dr Tim Noakes writes a long chapter to explain the science behind the Banting diet.
