The Diet – Heart Hypotheses, that dietary fat caused heart disease is overturned.

The Diet-Cholesterol-Heart Hypothesis, that cholesterol marked heart disease risk isn't valid either.

People on a low fat high carbohydrate diet, don't lose weight.

Finally they had to admit: that the recommended low-fat, high carbohydrate diet, recommended by the Dietary Guidelines for Americans, has no health benefits for post menopausal women.

High Hopes

This was to be the Rolls Royce study of women's health. Started 1991. Cost over $700 Million.

They expected to be successful, and they fully anticipated winning a Nobel Prize.

The project was well conceived, designed and executed.

They did get a strong result.

Results are in sharp contrast with long held dietary advice and expert opinion.
