Both Dr Atkins and Dr Bernstein made important medical discoveries, but their work was practice based, and strongly refuted by "eminent authorities".

Those were not the only cases where breakthroughs made by the wrong people were ignored or ridiculed.

Even Prof. John Yudkin, and Prof. Timothy Noakes, both eminent people themselves, faced discipline, and ridicule because they promoted "the wrong answers."

We've lost at least 50 years, in the development of good preventive strategies for obesity and type II diabetes, and we needed a Facebook group (TypeOneGrit) to prove that type I diabetes could be better controlled.
