By necessity there are some well known dances that will get lost. We can't maintain an ever increasing list of dances, it's not possible.

Changing the Above Lists?

First, I've not been active in sequence dancing for 20 years. I don't know many of these dances at all. Many dances I've included in Lists A, List B, List C and List D, may not deserve that importance FOR BEGINNERS.

I notice that the quick dances, jive, samba, cha cha are under represented. Also some of the "swings" are not danced in quickstep time. Also the distinction between Viennese waltz turns and modern waltz turns has often been lost. And of course many men don't distinguish a chassé turn from waltz turns.

Dance Scripts are intended to accurately describe a dance for teachers. But dancers need different language to describe what they are doing. Accurate names like natural turn and reverse turn are useful, but many dances have a set of steps that need words you can say, that tell the dancer what to do, that can be "said" as the steps are danced, in time, and also alignment if possible.

If this initiative is to have value, we need to work on the Lists A, B, C, and D, to make sure as best we can the essential dances for beginners to learn are included. I know that means some beautiful dances you might love cannot be included because it's also necessary to keep variety in EACH of the lists.
