Public Comment:
Zoe Harcombe has one of the best quotes I have ever heard among the numerous nutritional lectures I have listened to. She said (paraphrase): "We are the only species smart enough to invent our own food, and stupid enough to eat it". That dictum perfectly summarizes Bill Gates' inane pursuit of a protein source, through a fungus, that is devoid of cholesterol.

We co-evolved with animals, and subsisted off of them, and so it is logical to conclude that we are exquisitely adapted to eat foods where protein, with a certain fatty acid composition and, yes, CHOLESTEROL accompany that protein. This is not to mention the myriad of other components in meat, which we have yet to discover, which benefit us nutritionally and/or act as cofactor's to make nutrients we do know about absorbable.

If you think about the processed food industry, its raison d'être is to take foods found in nature, and manipulate them so as to remove some aspect of them and concentrate other aspects of them. Its this same processed food industry that has caused the obesity epidemic and its associated complications. Gates and his self-righteous colleagues are just repeating the mistakes made before.

Book

The Carnivore Diet reviews some of the supporting evolutionary, historical, and nutritional science that gives us clues as to why so many people are having great success with this meat-focused way of eating. It highlights dramatic real-world transformations experienced by people of all types. Common disease conditions that are often thought to be lifelong and progressive are often reversed on this diet, and in this book, Baker discusses some of the theory behind that phenomenon as well. It outlines a comprehensive strategy for incorporating the Carnivore Diet as a tool or a lifelong eating style, and Baker offers a thorough discussion of the most common misconceptions about this diet and the problems people have when transitioning to it.
