After WWII anything German was discredited and much of medical science went backward 50 years.
So after WWII cause of obesity became a difficult complex problem that isn't understood.
German and Austrian science was heavily supported by the government.
This was good science (for it's time) and continued until WWII.
Obesity was never a problem in Europe, Ebstein promoted the Banting diet.
That idea was picked up by Dr William Osler in the USA.
