The human body has a hybrid metabolism. In our agricultural economies, unless your are sick or fasting, you use a glucose based metabolism.
In the history of mankind a stable food supply was rare, and most years people would suffer food shortages for a few weeks, sometimes a few months. This activates an alternative fatty-acid metabolism we call ketosis.
This presentation introduces you to nutritional ketosis. If you are having health problems caused by the diet you are eating, we suggest that you experiment by changing your eating habits, both what you eat and when you eat.
Ideally, get yourself into ketosis by eating very few carbohydrates, and maintain that eating style for at least six weeks.
We anticipate that you'll discover health benefits. Once you know how to do this, you have choices. To sustain ketosis all the time, or to do that maybe once or twice a year, just to give your body a rest from excess reliance on glucose and the insulin that excess dietary carbohydrate forces your body to produce.

Introduction by John Stephen Veitch, Director, Open Future Health Limited.
Ketosis is activated by starvation, or by fasting, or by eating a low carbohydrate diet. We activate ketosis by choosing to eat very little carbohydrate. We call that nutritional ketosis, a ketogenic diet, or a Banting diet.
